Mexico economic outlook focuses on USMCA review and investment drivers

Economic discussions in Mexico are currently focused on the USMCA review process and the broader requirements for attracting international investment. While the fourth round of USMCA talks was postponed, creating a period of uncertainty, Mexican Secretary of Economy Marcelo Ebrard stated that communication between Mexico and the United States remains constant and fluid.

Beyond trade agreements, global financial leaders at the Qatar Economic Forum emphasized that the competition for capital has shifted. Investors are increasingly prioritizing factors such as energy, infrastructure, regulatory certainty, supply chain security, and geopolitical stability over simple labor costs or proximity to the United States.

Additionally, there is a growing emphasis on the link between urban productivity and resource management. Effective economic growth requires connecting public decisions and infrastructure investments—such as water access—to measurable indicators like job creation and improved productivity to ensure long-term sustainability.
