Municipal Animal Health Campaigns Expand Across Mexico, Argentina and Colombia

Municipal authorities in several Latin American cities are running free animal health campaigns. In Nava, Coahuila, Mexico, the municipal administration will offer rabies vaccination and deworming for dogs and cats on August 4‑5 at designated community sites. The Huixquican Animal Shelter in Huixquilucan, Mexico, reported that 475 rescued dogs have been adopted into homes after a series of responsible‑ownership workshops.

In the Argentine province of San Juan, a special operation in the Caucete department provided free rabies shots, antiparasitic treatments and sterilizations for pets on August 4. Similar free Zoonosis services are scheduled in other neighborhoods of the province. The State of Mexico signed a cooperation agreement between its health secretariat, the Institute of State Health and the State Commission for Natural Parks and Fauna to broaden vaccination, deworming and sterilization campaigns throughout the state.

Bogotá’s District Institute of Animal Protection opened more than 12,000 free sterilization slots for dogs and cats during August, using mobile units and a fixed animal care center to serve low‑income neighborhoods. These coordinated efforts aim to improve public health, reduce stray animal populations and promote responsible pet ownership across the region.
