Mexico Expands Universal Health Credential Registration in Nuevo Laredo

In Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, about 2,000 residents have already enrolled in Mexico's new universal health credential program, receiving a card that will grant access to public medical services. The registration process, managed by the Secretaría de Bienestar, will soon extend to all age groups, including infants.

Nationwide, the enrollment continues with a July 6‑11 schedule based on the first letter of the paternal surname. Eligible participants include seniors, persons with disabilities, children with disabilities accompanied by a guardian, and adults aged 30‑64 who meet the requirements. Applicants must present official ID, CURP, proof of address, and a contact phone number. The credential, required from 2027, will also be available digitally via the MX app, allowing users to view medical records, prescriptions, and appointments.
