Mexico health authorities conduct large-scale rabies vaccination campaigns
Health authorities in Mexico have reported significant progress in rabies prevention through large-scale pet vaccination campaigns. In the state of Guanajuato, the Secretaría de Salud applied over 16,000 anti-rabies vaccines across the Jurisdicción Sanitaria V during the last week of September. The campaign covered several municipalities, including Salamanca, Moroleón, Yuriria, Jaral del Progreso, Uriangato, and Valle de Santiago, to strengthen public health protection.
In Baja California, the Secretaría de Salud reported that more than 215,000 anti-rabies vaccines have been administered to date as part of permanent prevention efforts. During the National Canine and Feline Anti-Rabies Vaccination Week, over 22,200 doses were applied across various districts, with Tijuana recording the highest number at 15,800 doses. The state maintains a significant public health milestone, having recorded no human rabies cases for 60 years and no canine rabies cases for 43 years.
