Mexico implements school health protocols amid respiratory virus cases

Health and education authorities in Mexico are implementing preventive strategies in schools to curb the spread of respiratory viruses. In Campeche, officials reported 31 confirmed cases of severe respiratory illness, consisting of 18 COVID-19 cases and 13 influenza cases. The Secretary of Health, Orlando Alvarado Rivadeneyra, stated that teachers and school staff have been instructed to act as a first line of defense by identifying students with warning signs and notifying families immediately.

In Puebla, specifically in San Martín Texmelucan, a positive COVID-19 case was confirmed in a second-grade student. Health personnel from the Huejotzingo district delegation of CESSA visited the school to implement sanitary recommendations and reinforce prevention protocols. Authorities have clarified that isolated cases do not constitute a generalized outbreak and have urged parents to monitor their children's health at home and avoid sending symptomatic students to school.
