Mexico issues nationwide heavy‑rain warnings and landslide alerts

Mexico's National Coordination of Civil Protection, part of the Secretariat of Security and Civil Protection, together with the National Meteorological Service and the National Water Commission, warned the public of heavy rainfall across much of the country on 23 July 2026. Forecasts called for very strong rains (50‑75 mm) in Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Oaxaca and Chiapas, with strong showers (25‑50 mm) in Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán and Guerrero, and moderate rain in many other states.

Authorities urged people to avoid crossing rivers, streams or flooded areas on foot or in vehicles, to stay alert for ground instability in sloped terrain, and to evacuate immediately to safe zones or temporary shelters if local officials signal danger. All updates were to be followed only through official channels.
