Baja California expands free cervical cancer screening access

The Government of Baja California, through the Ministry of Health, has expanded access to free cervical cancer screening tests throughout August. The initiative targets women aged 25 to 64 and is available across the state's seven municipalities.

Health services are being provided at health centers and through mobile health units, including Health Caravans, to reach vulnerable communities. Testing options include Papanicolaou and cervical cytology. Available locations include IMSS-Bienestar, ISSSTE, and ISSSTECALI centers. In Mexicali, a specific module is operating at Plaza La Cachanilla on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 to 14:00.

So far in 2026, health personnel have conducted over 7,800 tests. Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda has encouraged women to utilize these services, noting that early detection is critical for effective treatment.
