Mexico labor productivity grows 1.7% annually in Q2 2026

Mexico's labor productivity grew by 1.7% annually in the second quarter of 2026, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi). This follows a period of stagnation in the first quarter of the year.

On a quarterly basis, the Global Labor Productivity Index of the Economy increased by 0.9%. Growth was driven by the primary and tertiary sectors. The primary sector, encompassing agriculture, livestock, and fishing, saw a quarterly increase of 1.1% and an annual rise of 7%. The tertiary sector, which includes services and consumption, grew by 0.9% quarterly and 2% annually.

The secondary sector, or industry, showed a quarterly increase of 0.5% but experienced a slight annual decline of 0.1%. Specifically, labor productivity in manufacturing establishments decreased by 0.1% on a quarterly basis. Within specific industries, wholesale trade saw a significant productivity increase of 5.2%, while construction rose by 2.4%.
