Mexico launches agricultural support for corn and wheat producers

The Mexican Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRICULTURA) has announced a new operational strategy for the 2026-2027 Autumn-Winter agricultural cycle. The initiative, titled 'Cosechando Soberanía', aims to reduce production costs and increase profitability for small and medium-sized producers through consolidated and direct purchases of basic inputs and bio-inputs.

Under this scheme, farmers can access direct purchases of seeds, fertilizers, and other essential products from authorized manufacturers or distributors to secure discounts. Additionally, the program offers credits of up to 1.3 million pesos and various protection instruments for productive activities.

The program targets white corn producers with up to 20 hectares in the states of Sinaloa and Sonora. Wheat producers with up to 20 hectares in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Sonora, and Tamaulipas are also eligible. The consolidated purchase platform will be available starting September 30, 2026, with the goal of delivering inputs between October 15 and October 30, 2026.
