Mexico launches community programs in Tijuana and Michoacán to empower youth and boost wellbeing

Casa de las Ideas, a creative hub in Tijuana founded by José Galicot Behar and run by Tijuana Innovadora, has reached more than 45,000 people since its 2015 launch. The centre offers art, theatre, film, photography, literature, radio, dance and visual‑arts workshops, alongside programmes such as PsicoCreativo for youths in reintegration and the Hope Truck initiative that has helped 76 % of participants find employment. In 2026 it aims to serve 600 directly through new workshops.

Separately, on 12 May the federal environmental sector organized a Wellness Fair in Epitacio Huerta, Michoacán, under the Plan Michoacán por la Paz y la Justicia promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum. The event gathered 29 federal, state and local agencies and attracted 3,318 residents. Attendees received information on forest management, ecosystem restoration, community‑driven projects and women‑focused productive initiatives, aiming to improve health, education, employment and environmental sustainability in the region.
