Mexico launches exhibition to promote early breast cancer detection among young women

Senator Emmanuel Reyes Carmona inaugurated the photographic exhibition “Está en tus manos”, part of a campaign by Fundación de Alba aimed at raising awareness of early detection and prevention of breast cancer in women under 40. The show features photographs of patients and survivors and stresses that 11‑15 % of breast‑cancer cases occur in women younger than 40, often as aggressive HER2‑positive or triple‑negative tumors.

Carmona highlighted a legislative initiative to declare 3 March the National Day of Triple‑Negative Breast Cancer, seeking to boost research, innovation, timely diagnosis, treatment access and family support. Yeidckol Polevnsky Gurwitz acknowledged the struggle of affected women, while Miryana Pérez Vela noted that Mexico records more than 26,000 annual breast‑cancer cases and about 4,500 among young women.
