Mexico launches free artistic training in Baja California and cultural season in Yucatán
The government of Baja California announced a program of more than 200 artistic workshops, courses and activities across its seven municipalities, with 41 offerings provided free of charge. The initiative, part of the 2026‑2 academic program of the state Secretariat of Culture, covers disciplines such as visual arts, dance, theater, music, literature, photography, sign language, Braille, cinema and traditional gastronomy. Classes run from September to December in state arts centers, and registration is open from 17 August to 11 September.
In Yucatán, the Secretaría de la Cultura y las Artes concluded the Pecda season after a 30‑day run of over 50 free events in Mérida and more than 20 municipalities. Highlights included the musical reading “Del iik’ y otros susurros del monte” by Citlally Inés Chi Cob and the dramatized piece “Mute” by Fabián Sosa, both funded by the Programa de Estímulo a la Creación y Desarrollo Artístico.
