Mexico launches health initiatives for students and schools
New health initiatives are being launched to support students and educators in Mexico. Fundación Lazos and Grupo México have formed a strategic alliance to expand comprehensive care in school communities. A central component of this partnership is ‘Dr. Vagón,’ a mobile health train consisting of 18 cars that travels the Ferromex railway network across 24 states and approximately 150 communities. The program focuses on early detection, treatment, and prevention, offering services such as dental care, nutrition training, reproductive health education, and laboratory testing for various age groups.
In Mexico City, the local government has implemented the ‘SALTA’ strategy (Salud y Aprendizaje para una Libertad Transformadora en el Aula). This initiative aims to create safe environments and promote healthy lifestyles among primary school children and teaching staff. The program prioritizes interventions for visual issues, nutritional alterations, mental health risks, and vaccination gaps. Health officials noted the importance of addressing chronic diseases and mental health, which remain significant epidemiological concerns for the student population.
