Mexico advances autism support with new centers in Zacapu and Tabasco

The municipal government of Zacapu, Michoacán announced the start of construction for a Municipal Autism Center. Led by municipal president Mónica Valdez Pulido and DIF municipal president Estela Pulido Lúa, the project, coordinated with public‑works director Edgar García Hernández, will provide local specialized care for children and youth on the autism spectrum, eliminating the need for families to travel long distances.

In Tabasco, the state received the Centro de Recursos para la Atención Integral del Espectro del Autismo (CRIAT), a 2,400‑square‑meter facility built by Pemex with a 76‑million‑peso investment and now operated by the Sistema DIF Tabasco. Governor Javier May Rodríguez said the center strengthens inclusion, offering therapy rooms, a hydro‑massage pool, labor and artistic training workshops, and a mobile medical unit equipped for HIV and tuberculosis testing.
