Mexico crime: Missing woman search in Baja California Sur and adolescent kidnapping sentencing in Michoacán
Authorities in Baja California Sur activated the Protocol Alba to accelerate the search for 29‑year‑old Jonatzin Aharali Leyva Cavillo, who was last seen on 8 July 2026 in the El Camino Real neighbourhood of La Paz. The PGJE issued a detailed description of the missing woman and asked the public to report any information via phone or the 089 anonymous tip line.
In Michoacán, a special juvenile court sentenced an adolescent for aggravated kidnapping and vehicle theft committed on 25 February near Jacona. The court ordered a custodial term of two years and six months and required the offender to pay restitution to the victim, following testimony from municipal police and the National Guard who intervened during the incident.
