Mexican authorities launch searches for missing men in Quintana Roo and US citizens in Mexico City

The Fiscalía General del Estado of Quintana Roo opened search fichas for Carlos Audomaro Solís Castro and Jesús Alexander Zamora Solís, both 28, after they were allegedly kidnapped during a violent raid on a home in Felipe Carrillo Puerto on 3 June. Witnesses said armed, hooded attackers forced two occupants out of the house; a third person escaped and alerted emergency services. Detailed physical descriptions of the two men were released, and state, municipal and federal forces began a coordinated search in the area.

Separately, the Public Ministry and the local Search Commission in Mexico City issued fichas for American nationals Guillermo Jaffet Hidalgo Ortiz, 57, and Zafar Padamsee Mawani, 56, who were last seen on 20 May in the Tlalpan borough. The U.S. Department of State confirmed it stands ready to provide consular assistance. Officials highlighted that Mexico’s national register lists over 134,000 missing persons, with the highest numbers in the State of Mexico, Tamaulipas and Jalisco.

Both investigations reflect the broader challenge of disappearances in Mexico and the involvement of foreign nationals.
