Mexico launches second phase of Sembrando Vida project in Cuba
Mexico has initiated the second phase of the ‘Sembrando Vida’ cooperation project in Cuba, targeting agricultural producers in the central provinces of Ciego de Ávila and Sancti Spíritus. The initiative, driven by the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (Amexcid) and the Mexican Embassy in Havana, aims to benefit 1,500 farmers in each of these territories.
The program focuses on strengthening food sovereignty through technical training, the exchange of best practices, and the provision of agricultural inputs, seeds, and machinery. Officials expect the project to increase crop production by between 50 and 80 percent.
Alejandra del Moral Vela, executive director of Amexcid, stated that the initiative reflects the Mexican government's commitment to supporting Cuba during its current economic difficulties. The project intends to eventually expand its reach to all Cuban provinces, including the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud.
