Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and State of Mexico Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez have announced significant investments in education and infrastructure for the region.
In education, 2.1 million students in the State of Mexico are receiving support through various programs. This includes the ‘La Escuela es Nuestra’ program, which provides resources to 5,500 schools, and several scholarship initiatives such as the Benito Juárez scholarship for high schoolers and the Rita Cetina scholarship for primary and secondary students. To expand educational access, the government has constructed 10 new high schools and aims to increase the presence of the Universidad Rosario Castellanos and the Universidades para el Bienestar Benito Juárez.
Regarding infrastructure, the ‘Plan Oriente’ includes the construction of 18 new vehicular bridges in eastern State of Mexico, representing a joint investment of 3.8 billion pesos. These projects, scheduled for completion by 2027, aim to improve connectivity in municipalities such as Chimalhuacán, Ecatepec, Ixtapaluca, Chalco, Valle de Chalco, and La Paz. The investment includes 995 million pesos for 5.7 kilometers of infrastructure and 2 billion pesos specifically for the Alameda Oriente bridges.
