Mexico pet services sector expands sharply amid rising pet parenting

Demand for veterinary services in Mexico surged 43% in 2026, driven by the growing trend of pet parenting. Digital consultations rose 41% while in‑person appointments grew 43%, and the number of veterinary establishments increased 27% over the past three years. Approximately seven out of ten Mexican households now own a pet, with an estimated 80 million domestic animals nationwide.

The same pet‑parenting shift is fueling rapid growth in pet funeral services. Mexico’s pet cremation market is expanding at an annual rate of 25‑30%, with prices ranging from 2,000 to over 8,000 pesos depending on size, services and memorabilia. Industry executives anticipate double‑digit growth for the next five years, noting a large untapped market for specialized crematories, pre‑planning plans and commemorative products.

Regional data show similar dynamics in Colombia and Argentina, where home‑visit veterinary care and video consultations have risen sharply. Together, these trends illustrate a broader transformation of the animal‑care industry into a high‑growth segment of the Mexican economy.
