Mexico political alliances face tension over governorship allocations

Political tensions are rising within Mexico's ruling coalition as the Labor Party (PT) expresses dissatisfaction with the distribution of governorships. Reports suggest an arrangement may grant four governorships to the Green Ecological Party of Mexico (PVEM), causing irritation among PT members.

Internal friction is evident in states such as Zacatecas, Colima, and Campeche, where PT members have rejected certain pre-candidates. José Narro Céspedes has threatened to launch independent candidates in several states, including Michoacán, Baja California, and Quintana Roo, if these grievances are not addressed.

The political landscape is further complicated by economic and social challenges, including high insecurity, rising costs of living, and unemployment. Currently, informal labor accounts for 55% of the economically active population, leaving a significant portion of workers without social security or retirement benefits.
