Mexico postpones judicial election to 2028 and adds foreign‑interference nullity clause
Mexico's Congress declared constitutional a reform that delays the election of the Judicial Power from 2027 to 2028. The same reform creates a new ground for annulling elections if foreign interference is proven.
The constitutional amendment received approval from 25 state legislatures for the postponement and 24 for the foreign‑interference provision. Opposition parties protested the vote, accusing the government of extending magistrates' terms and fabricating the interference clause to undermine electoral oversight.
