Mexico President Sheinbaum Acts on Search for Missing Journalist Roxana Guzmán

Journalist Roxana Guzmán was abducted in Nanchital, Veracruz on 2 June 2026. Her mother, Rubicelia Ramírez, appealed to President Claudia Sheinbaum for assistance. Sheinbaum met the mother, relaying that security chief Omar Harfuch is looking for the journalist and urged her not to despair. Veracruz prosecutor Lisbeth Aurelia Jiménez announced that investigators have identified the vehicle used and traced its route, prompting coordinated search operations across several municipalities with security forces and ministerial authorities. The federal government confirmed it is tracking the case and will continue investigations. Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle has not yet contacted the family.
