Mexico ranks second in Latin American auto sales

Mexico has emerged as the second-largest automotive market in Latin America for July, trailing only Brazil. According to data from the Latin American Association of Automobile Distributors (ALADDA), Mexico recorded 133,878 vehicle sales in July, while Brazil led the region with 279,578 units. Argentina followed in third place with 43,758 units.

In Mexico, July marked one of the strongest performances in recent years, with sales reaching approximately 130,831 to 133,878 units, representing a month-over-month increase. For the cumulative period from January to July 2026, the Latin American region saw a total of 3,827,366 light and heavy vehicles sold, a 12.2 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Among individual manufacturers in Mexico, Nissan maintained its leadership position with 23,454 units sold in July, followed by Chevrolet and Volkswagen. Notably, the Chinese manufacturer Geely saw significant growth, increasing its sales by nearly 128 percent compared to the previous year.
