Mexican State Police Seize Over 60,000 Liters of Illicit Fuel in Chihuahua

In July, the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública del Estado (SSPE) carried out two operations in the city of Chihuahua that seized a total of more than 60,000 liters of fuel suspected to be of illicit origin. The first operation intercepted a tanker truck carrying 27,900 liters of hydrocarbon, leading to the arrest of three individuals linked to the crime. A second coordinated sweep with the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional stopped another tanker with 32,296 liters of gasoline and resulted in the detention of a man wanted on a warrant in Baja California.

The investigations used the Plataforma Centinela to confirm that the vehicles had been reported as stolen. Specialists from Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and the Fiscalía General de la República analyzed the seized fuel to verify its provenance. SSPE officials said the seizures aim to prevent the resale of contraband fuel and disrupt the logistics of criminal groups involved in fuel theft across the state.
