Mexican forces seize aircraft, cocaine, meth and heavy weapons in Baja California and Sinaloa

Federal and state security agencies in Mexico carried out a series of coordinated operations in Baja California and the neighboring state of Sinaloa. In Mexicali, a joint task force intercepted a Cessna 206, seizing 24 kg of cocaine, 150 kg of methamphetamine, three vehicles, an apartment and extensive ammunition (377 cartridges, 24 chargers). The operation was supported by intelligence shared with the United States and involved the Army, Guard, Navy, Air Force, the National Defense Ministry’s air‑space surveillance unit and the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.

In the high‑risk area of Badiraguato, Sinaloa, agents uncovered a hidden arsenal in an abandoned pickup, including 50 military‑grade firearms such as seven anti‑aircraft machine guns, a Barrett .50 rifle, multiple grenade launchers and over 200 live rounds, valued at millions of pesos. Simultaneously, authorities in the Mexicali valley dismantled a clandestine hangar used by a cartellist cell, confiscating an ultralight aircraft, 20 kg of cocaine and two stolen vehicles.

The seizures represent a financial blow of roughly 40 million pesos to organized‑crime groups and remove millions of drug doses and a large cache of prohibited weaponry from the streets. All seized material has been turned over to the federal Ministry of Public Prosecutor for further investigation.
