Mexico Seizes Over 15 Million Pesos of Ketamine and Controlled Meds in Three States

On 25 July 2026, Mexico's Navy (Semar) collaborated with the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) to carry out simultaneous verification visits at pharmacies in Mexico City, the State of Mexico and Puebla. Naval personnel from the Central Naval Region provided tactical and operational support to Cofepris regulators during the inspections.

The operations resulted in the seizure of 35,736 boxes of ketamine, a substance classified as a psychotropic drug, together with 422 units of other controlled pharmaceuticals. The total estimated value of the confiscated merchandise is 15,348,362 pesos (about 15.3 million pesos). All seized items have been placed under Cofepris custody pending further investigation.
