Mexico Senate President Castillo Juárez Announces Weekly Legislative Agenda
Senate President Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez outlined the Senate's agenda for the week of June 22‑26, 2026. The Permanent Commission of the Congress of the Union will meet on Tuesday, June 23, featuring a tribune by young indigenous activist Juliette de la Cruz from Chicontepec, Veracruz, who will speak in Nahuatl to emphasize language preservation.
The schedule also includes a session of the Justice Commission on June 25 to examine two initiatives related to the General Law on Itinerant Civic Justice, a remembrance of President Lázaro Cárdenas' 1937 decree nationalizing railways, and meetings of the Gender Equality Commission, the bicameral National Security Commission, and the Second Labor Commission. On Friday, June 26, the Senate will observe International LGBTTTIQA+ Day. Castillo Juárez also praised the Mexican national football team's recent World Cup wins and expressed optimism about an upcoming match against the Czech Republic.
