Mexico SEP releases 2026-2027 school calendar

The Mexican Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) has officially released the school calendar for the 2026-2027 academic cycle. Following a summer recess that began early due to extreme heat waves, basic education students (preschool, primary, and secondary) are scheduled to return to classes on Monday, August 31, 2026. The new cycle will consist of 185 school days.

Key holidays and breaks established in the official agreement include:

- September 16, 2026: Independence Day. - November 2, 2026: Day of the Dead. - November 16, 2026: Mexican Revolution commemoration. - Winter Break: December 21, 2026, to January 5, 2027. - February 1, 2027: Constitution Day. - March 15, 2027: Birth of Benito Juárez. - Spring Break: March 22 to April 2, 2027. - May 5, 2027: Battle of Puebla.

Additionally, classes will be suspended on the last Friday of every month for School Technical Council sessions.
