Mexican Pacific shrimp fishing season dates established

Authorities and fishing representatives have established the schedule for the 2026-2027 shrimp fishing season in the Mexican Pacific. The lifting of the moratorium will occur in stages: on September 22, fishing will be permitted in lagoon, estuarine, and marsh systems in Sinaloa and Sonora. The offshore season in the Pacific Ocean and the Upper Gulf of California is set to begin on October 7.

In Guaymas, Sonora, small-scale coastal fishermen will be allowed to begin harvesting on September 22, two weeks ahead of the larger commercial fleet scheduled for October 7. Meanwhile, in southern Sinaloa, officials are working toward lifting the moratorium for the Huizache-Caimanero and Escuinapa areas following the publication of the official agreement.

In other regional news, the Sinaloa tourism department announced plans for inclusive beaches in Mazatlán and Guasave, featuring specialized infrastructure for people with disabilities. Additionally, the Bienpesca program has announced a special window from September 14 to 18 for beneficiaries to collect their new bank cards.
