Mexico State Human Rights Commission launches free postgraduate programs

The Comisión de Derechos Humanos del Estado de México (CODHEM) is offering two free postgraduate programs to train specialists in the promotion, protection and defence of human rights. The one‑year Specialty in Human Rights, now in its tenth cohort, will conclude in August and has enrolled 302 students, of whom 202 have graduated. The two‑year Master's in Human Rights and Emerging Issues, whose current cohort will finish in 2027, has 62 new entrants and 24 graduates so far. Both programmes have official recognition (RVOE) and aim to equip professionals to assist victims of abuse and groups facing discrimination, while improving public service through gender, intercultural and intersectional perspectives. As institute head Gabriela Eugenia Lara Torres explained, “Human rights are a living subject that constantly evolves… today we also discuss digital rights.” CODHEM also runs an online course and a certification process costing 3,800 pesos, issuing 14 certificates in 2026 and receiving 200 applications.
