Human rights training initiatives in Mexico

In Mexico State, the Comisión de Derechos Humanos del Estado de México (CODHEM) has launched free postgraduate programs, including a one-year Specialty in Human Rights and a two-year Master’s in Human Rights and Emerging Issues. Institute head Gabriela Eugenia Lara Torres noted that “human rights are a living subject that constantly evolves.”

In Michoacán, the State Human Rights Commission (CEDH) collaborated with civil society organizations and health centers to hold a training workshop regarding the rights of people living with HIV. Ombudsperson Josué Mejía stated that specialized care is necessary to eliminate historical discrimination, with the goal of professionalizing staff and unifying care criteria for service users.
