Mexico states boost health services and disaster response in Zacatecas and Baja California Sur

Governor David Monreal Ávila of Zacatecas chaired a health board meeting that reviewed progress in the transition to the IMSS‑Bienestar system and announced that President Claudia Sheinbaum plans to install 500 new medical clinics in the state as part of the national drive toward universal health coverage. Monreal highlighted efforts to upgrade community hospitals, reduce drug shortages and increase medical staffing.

In Baja California Sur, Health Secretary Ana Luisa Guluarte Castro praised the coordinated response to a recent fire in San José de Comondú. The operation involved COEPRIS inspectors and SAMU paramedics who provided pre‑hospital care, chlorinated water, distributed food‑disinfection supplies and conducted disease‑surveillance activities to prevent outbreaks following the natural disaster.
