Mexico strengthens international cooperation to manage migration

Mexico is strengthening its international cooperation strategies to address migration through both local integration and regional development. In Baja California, the State Council on Migratory Affairs (CEAM) has reinforced its alliance with the United Nations and the Government of Canada. This collaboration focuses on the ‘Integramos México’ project and Multiservice Centers designed to promote social, labor, and humanitarian inclusion for people in mobility contexts.

On a broader scale, the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (Amexcid) has identified Central America and the Caribbean as priority regions for its international cooperation policy. The strategy aims to address the structural causes of migration by reducing inequality. Key programs include ‘Sembrando Vida’, which targets food security and agricultural productivity in El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, and Cuba, and ‘Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro’, currently operating in El Salvador and Honduras. These initiatives seek to improve economic opportunities in countries of origin to influence migration dynamics.
