Mexico strengthens measures to combat violence against women

Authorities in Mexico are implementing measures to combat violence against women through specialized legal and municipal actions. In Jalisco, officials reported that 111 alleged aggressors were linked to criminal proceedings during the second half of August. This follows the integration of 109 investigation files by the Vice-Prosecutor's Office for Specialized Investigation in Attention to Women, Children, Adolescents, Gender Reason, and Family, covering regions such as Guadalajara, Zapopan, and Puerto Vallarta.

The Green Party (Partido Verde) highlighted these results as evidence of the importance of specialized prosecutor's offices, noting that a 2024 reform mandates such specialized areas to improve victim care and combat impunity.

In Tijuana, the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection (SSPCM) is promoting prevention and response actions. The municipality offers support through the 'Escuadrón Violeta' and the 'Botón Morado' mobile application to help women in risk situations. The SSPCM emphasizes the need to recognize various forms of violence, including physical, sexual, psychological, economic, and digital, to ensure timely intervention.
