Mexico tourism rebounds as vacation season drives visitor surge

Tourist motor‑taxi operators in Tlayacapan, Morelos, expect a sharp increase in weekend visitors after a slow start to the vacation period, which was dampened by many families staying home to watch the World Cup final. They highlight mototaxi rides as a popular way for tourists to explore the Pueblo Mágico’s attractions.

The state tourism authority in Tamaulipas reports that more than 590,000 tourists have already arrived during the current vacation stretch, surpassing the 473,000 recorded in the same period in 2025. The influx is generating economic activity exceeding 500 million pesos, with the most‑visited sites being Playa Miramar in Ciudad Madero, the port of Tampico, and Nuevo Laredo. Officials credit intensive promotion and improved security perceptions for the growth.

Both regions anticipate that the rising visitor numbers will continue to boost local economies throughout the summer.
