Tamaulipas tourism surge expands
Entities: Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez · Playa La Pesca · Américo Villarreal Anaya · Playa Miramar · Tamaulipas
Overview
By late July, state tourism officials reaffirmed the earlier surge, reporting more than 590,000 visitors and an economic spillover exceeding 500 million pesos, with Ciudad Madero’s Playa Miramar remaining the top destination. The Zoológico Tamatán opened registration for its CurZoo de Verano 2026 programme, offering week‑long environmental‑education courses for children aged 6‑12 at a cost of 850 pesos per participant.
A week later, data for the six principal beaches of Tamaulipas showed a further increase, attracting over 672,000 tourists and generating an impact of more than 618 million pesos. Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya highlighted ongoing efforts to raise quality standards, certification and professionalisation for tourism service providers. In addition to Playa Miramar, the report singled out Playa La Pesca, Bagdad, Barra del Tordo, Tesoro and La Carbonera for their ecological and recreational appeal.
The combined figures illustrate that the tourism rebound is deepening, extending beyond single sites to a broader coastal corridor and supporting continued economic revitalisation in the state.
