Mexico transport sector faces illegal operations and legal training needs

Mexico's transportation sector is facing significant regulatory and legal challenges. During a forum titled ‘Transporte Para el Pueblo; Servicio Económico de Pasajeros’, Deputy Reginaldo Sandoval Flores reported that between 35,000 and 50,000 buses are operating illegally on federal routes, a situation that worsens at the local level. Sandoval Flores noted that this unregulated competition affects both users and workers, highlighting that approximately 250,000 drivers work under daily payment schemes without legal benefits.

Additionally, efforts are being made to provide legal training to transport workers. CONATRAM organized a webinar focused on criminal justice and road transport to educate drivers on their constitutional rights, police inspection limits, and legal procedures during flagrant detentions. Federal Deputy Francisco Javier Borrego Adame emphasized the need for continuous training and coordinated efforts between government branches to protect the transport sector.
