Mexico water agencies act on infrastructure in Michoacán and Querétaro
The National Water Commission (Conagua) in Michoacán met with leaders of 40 indigenous communities to plan maintenance and upgrades of water systems. Agreements include sending an excavator to clear the Dren Naranja of the Angulo River, inspecting storage tanks on the road to Salvador Escalante, studying a wetland project in Naranja de Tapia, evaluating a new well in Huancito (Chilchota), and rehabilitating the hydraulic network in Aranza. Additional actions involve checking well concession titles in La Mesa, exploring a new storage tank, and coordinating electrification for the Santiago Zacatula community.
In Querétaro, the State Water Commission (CEA) announced a target to repair 90 % of water leaks in the metropolitan area within 18 hours. The plan emphasizes early detection of hidden leaks, rapid repair to reduce water loss, and strict enforcement against illegal water taps and theft.
