Mexico water supply disruptions trigger emergency truck deliveries

A failure in the El Carrizo booster that supplies water from the El Carrizo dam to Tijuana's El Florido treatment plant reduced inflow by about 12%, affecting the potable water supply to 203 neighborhoods. The Comisión Estatal de Servicios Públicos de Tijuana (CESPT) is repairing the infrastructure and is supplementing the shortfall with water trucks, prioritising the most affected areas.

In the state of San Luis Potosí, the Comisión Estatal del Agua reported that, due to repeated pump failures in Interapas’s distribution system, more than 30 million litres of water were delivered by tanker trucks during June to neighborhoods experiencing service interruptions. The agency says the emergency deliveries will continue while the pump problems are addressed, aiming to prevent thousands of families from losing access to drinking water.
