Mexico faces extreme heatwaves and heavy rainfall

Mexico is experiencing extreme meteorological contrasts, characterized by intense heatwaves and heavy rainfall across various regions. In the north, particularly in Sonora and Baja California, temperatures are reaching extreme levels, with some areas like San Luis Río Colorado and Mexicali expected to hit 46°C. These heatwaves have already resulted in health issues, including dehydration and heatstroke cases in Sinaloa.

Simultaneously, the Mexican monsoon and tropical waves are triggering heavy to intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and potential hail in several states, including Nayarit, Jalisco, Michoacán, and Guerrero. These storms pose risks of flooding, landslides, and river overflows. Authorities have issued warnings for residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and take precautions against rising water levels in rivers and streams.

In the State of Mexico, authorities are monitoring rainfall to prevent flooding in municipalities such as Ecatepec and Toluca. While some regions face extreme heat, others, particularly in mountainous areas of Durango and Puebla, may experience cold mornings with temperatures as low as 0°C.
