Mexico wildlife conservation: Sea turtle eggs recovered and flamingos banded

Conservation efforts are underway in Mexico to protect local wildlife. In Puerto Vallarta, personnel from the Secretaría de Marina discovered a sea turtle nest at Los Muertos Beach during a routine patrol. A total of 62 eggs were recovered and placed under official protection to ensure their safe incubation and eventual release into the marine ecosystem.

In the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve in Yucatán, 425 American flamingos were banded as part of a monitoring and conservation initiative. The operation involved 142 volunteers, including technicians and local community members, who collected data on the birds' weight, measurements, and health status before their release. According to the Comisión Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas (Conanp), approximately 24,000 flamingos have been recorded in the nesting area during the current season.
