Mexico's CANACAR launches National Fleet Safety Program

The Cámara Nacional del Autotransporte de Carga (CANACAR) has partnered with insurance firm Quálitas and technical operator Grupo Innovazione to create the Programa Nacional de Flotillas Seguras. The initiative aims to shift cargo‑transport risk management from a reactive model to a preventive one, using technology, data analysis, training and best‑practice standards to reduce accidents, thefts and operational losses.

The program will begin with a pilot phase for CANACAR‑affiliated companies, applying diagnostic and evaluation models, and measuring impacts on safety and operational performance. It also includes the development of a National Fleet Risk Index and a recognition scheme for firms that adopt top safety practices. CANACAR President Augusto Ramos emphasized the strategic importance of the scheme, while Quálitas President José Antonio Correa Etchegaray highlighted the need for proactive risk prevention, and Innovazione’s director Fernando Yael Valero Garibay noted the role of data‑driven decisions in improving risk administration.
