Mexico cargo transport safety and security initiatives

The Cámara Nacional del Autotransporte de Carga (CANACAR) has initiated several programs to improve safety and security within Mexico’s cargo transport sector.

In July 2026, CANACAR partnered with insurance firm Quálitas and technical operator Grupo Innovazione to launch the ‘Programa Nacional de Flotillas Seguras’. This initiative seeks to transition risk management from a reactive to a preventive model through technology, data analysis, and training. The program includes a pilot phase for affiliated companies and the development of a National Fleet Risk Index.

By August 2026, CANACAR expanded its security efforts by signing a collaboration agreement with the National Association of Vehicle Tracking and Protection Companies (ANERPV). This partnership focuses specifically on combating cargo theft by sharing information and utilizing data analysis to improve security for transport affiliates. The collaboration also aims to propose public policy actions to ensure the safe movement of goods, which is considered vital for the national economy.
