Mexico's CFE deploys emergency resources ahead of Hurricane Polo

The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) has launched a massive preventive operation to protect the electrical supply along Mexico's Pacific coast as Hurricane Polo intensifies. The deployment includes 1,320 electricians, 331 cranes, 445 light vehicles, 82 emergency plants, 68 lighting towers, and a helicopter to ensure immediate response to any infrastructure damage.

Forecasts indicate the hurricane is undergoing rapid intensification. While reports vary slightly on its exact strength and location, the system is moving parallel to the coastline, threatening the states of Guerrero, Michoacán, Jalisco, and Colima. Authorities have warned of intense rainfall, strong winds, and high surf.

In response to the threat, the Secretariat of the Navy has ordered the suspension of navigation in high-risk areas, and local authorities have paused school activities in coastal zones. The CFE is coordinating with the National Civil Protection System and the Secretariat of National Defense to manage potential emergencies and restore service under strict safety protocols.
