CFE pledges over 9 billion pesos to modernize Querétaro power grid

The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) announced an investment of more than 9 billion pesos in the state of Querétaro, to be deployed through 2030. The funding will be used to modernize the electric network, build new substations, expand and reinforce existing distribution infrastructure, and improve service reliability.

Governor Mauricio Kuri González met with CFE director general Emilia Calleja Alor and other officials, during which a regional CFE director for Querétaro was appointed and a plan for joint technical inspections of municipalities was agreed. The investment aims to address frequent outages and low‑voltage problems that have generated over 730 reported incidents this year, causing protests and disruptions for residents and businesses.

The program also includes enhanced communication channels, such as social‑media updates and a dedicated phone line, to inform the public about interruptions and restoration times.
