Mexico's Coahuila Election Confirmed as PRI Wins After Court Rejects Morena/PT Challenge
The Regional Monterrey Chamber of the Federal Electoral Tribunal (TEPJF) dismissed the appeal filed by the coalition "Sigamos Haciendo Historia"—comprised of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) and the Labor Party (PT)—that sought to annul the June 7, 2026 local deputy elections in Coahuila's 16 districts. The court ruled that the petitioners lacked the legal standing to challenge the district‑level results, upholding the earlier decision of the Coahuila State Electoral Tribunal.
With the appeal rejected, the PRI's absolute majority in the forthcoming Coahuila Congress stands confirmed. Other related lawsuits stemming from the 2026 elections remain pending, but the primary effort to overturn the results has been nullified.
