Mexican states reintegrate children with families and protect street youth

In Yucatán, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena and DIF president Wendy Méndez Naal formalised the return of seven adolescents to their families and the adoption of a baby after months of legal and social evaluations. Meanwhile, the municipality of Tlajomulco reported that 705 children and adolescents have been reunited with families or placed in foster homes since October 2024, including 19 cases during a recent “Familias de Amor” ceremony, as announced by Mayor Quirino Velázquez.

In Toluca, DIF president Rocío Pegueros led a series of street patrols that identified and assisted vulnerable minors. The program recorded 96 children served in 36 patrols for 2025, with earlier efforts detecting 45 cases across 20 routes, providing education, health, psychological and legal support to prevent child labour and exploitation.

Monterrey’s DIF, headed by Gaby Oyervides, supervised an inclusive summer camp offering recreational and developmental activities for children and youth, underscoring municipal commitment to safe, formative environments.
