Mexico's Gross Fixed Capital Investment Rises 5.9% in April 2026
The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reported that Mexico's gross fixed capital investment increased 5.9% year‑on‑year in April 2026, breaking a 17‑month decline. Seasonally adjusted data show a 4% rise from the previous month, with the investment index reaching 107.4.
Construction led the recovery, posting a 10.1% annual gain and a 6.5% monthly increase. Residential construction grew 12.4% month‑on‑month and 16.7% year‑on‑year. Machinery and equipment investment rose 2% month‑on‑month and 0.9% annually. Private investment was up 5.7% YoY, while public investment grew 7.5% YoY.
Analysts note that increased public infrastructure spending is reinforcing the construction sector, amplifying the overall investment rebound.
