Mexico's Huixquilucan and Guanajuato roll out student support programs

Huixquilucan municipal government closed the 2025‑2026 school year by completing rehabilitation of all municipal schools, including 32 planteles that received painting, new lighting, sanitary upgrades, sports courts, furniture and other improvements. The work benefits roughly 11,000 basic and high‑school students. In parallel, the municipality distributed more than 15,500 economic aids through its “Becas Municipales” and “Monedero Electrónico 2026” programs, provided free eye exams and glasses, organized recreational trips, and operates childcare centers, supporting over 27,000 students in total.

In Guanajuato, the state’s Bienestar scholarship program will suspend payments for the July‑August vacation after the 2025‑2026 cycle. The pause applies to the Rita Cetina secondary scholarship, the Benito Juárez high‑school scholarship, and the Jóvenes Escribiendo el Futuro university scholarship, which will resume in October. The primary‑level Rita Cetina scholarship continues with an annual $2,500 payment in August. The program delivers five bimonthly installments covering ten months of the year.
