Mexico auto market hits record July sales, 130,831 vehicles sold

In July 2026 Mexico recorded the strongest month for new light‑vehicle sales since 2016, with 130,831 units sold – a 3.4% increase over July 2025. The cumulative January‑July total reached 885,349 vehicles, a 5% rise year‑on‑year and the highest volume for a comparable period.

Nissan led the market with 23,454 units, followed by General Motors (16,163) and Volkswagen (11,687). Other notable performers included Toyota, Kia and Mazda. Stellantis Mexico reported a historic July, moving 9,391 units across its brands, with RAM sales up 81% and Dodge up 65% versus the same month in 2025. The company highlighted a 40% overall growth for the first half of the year.

The data, released by Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), underscore a robust domestic demand despite broader macro‑economic challenges. Analysts attribute the surge to a wider model mix, attractive financing and the entry of new brands, while credit expansion and controlled inflation have supported consumer purchasing power.
